An immunogenic composition including an adenyl cyclase-haemolysin (AC-Hly) protein, or an immunogenic portion thereof, from a Bordetella strain selected from B. pertussis, B. parapertussis and B. bronchiseptica, and further including a bacterial extract containing expression products of the VRQ genes of a Bordetella strain selected from B. pertussis, B. parapertussis and B. Bronchiseptica, or a portion of such expression products that is sufficient to induce an immune response in a host to whom the extract is administered.
