There is provided a novel anti-cataract agent which contains a compound represented by the general formula; (see fig.I) (wherein A represents a pyrimidine ring, R1 and R2 represent independently a hydrogen atom, or C1-6 alkyl or alkoxy group which may be substituted), or its salt, as an effective ingredient. The compound and their salts can be utilized for preventing or treating cataract of mammalian including human by oral or parenteral administration.

L'invention concerne un nouvel agent efficace contre les cataractes qui contient un composé de formule générale (voir fig.I) (où A représente un noyau pyrimidine, R1 et R2 représentent indépendamment un atome d'hydrogène ou un groupe alkyle ou alcoxy en C1-C6 qui peut être substitué), ou son sel, comme ingrédient actif. Le composé et ses sels peuvent être utilisés pour prévenir ou traiter les cataractes chez les mammifères, dont les humains, par voie orale ou parentérale.
