ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The composition includes an aromatic hydrocarbon solvent and crystals thereof in a carrier such as an asphaltic or hydrocarbon resin, or an oil. A non-volatile element, such as a high boiling point hydrotreated petroleum distillate and/or an aliphatic middle distillate may be added to enhance residual properties of the composition. The composition is painted onto wood, penetrates thereinto, and creates an odor repellant to horses and the like, lasting at least six months. The composition is non-toxic, non-carcinogenic and has a lower flammability level than like compositions presently available.
