ABSTRACT In an oilwell pump it is common to have a device containing bearings through which an oilwell polished rod travels in order to guide the polished rod in a vertical path and to prevent oil, water and gases from escaping into the atmosphere. The bearings are contained in combination within a stuffing box and can be repaired or replaced as they deteriorate through corrosion.
