GCD-80-26 ABSTRACT Disclosed herein is an antifriction bearing comprising rolling elements between an inner race and an outer race, each of the two races having a gap between two oppositely oriented end portions. In accordance with the invention, at least one of the end portions of at least one of the races is a spring whose resiliency, during operation, substantially alleviates torque pulses otherwise caused by the rolling elements when passing over the gaps. Ball bearings constructed based upon the invention were found particularly useful in gimbal assemblies of inertial platforms used for flight control systems.
