ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Fluorine-containing pyridonecarboxylic acid derivatives, such as ofloxacin, levofloxacin, nor- floxacin, enoxacin, ciprofloxacin, lomefloxacin, fleroxacin, difloxacin and tosufloxacin, show anti-HIV activity and are useful therapeutic agents for diseases caused by this virus (HIV). Furthermore, when used in combination with azidothymidine, dideoxyinosine or dideoxycytidine, these fluorine-containing pyridone- carboxylic acid derivatives show enhanced anti-HIV activity and, in this respect as well, they are expected to serve as useful drugs. - 31 -
