17 ABSTRACT The present invention provides apparatus for substantially preventing the formation of ice or frost in a pipe containing water in vapor or droplet form. The apparatus comprises means for gathering and focussing solar radiation and means for receiving and distributing the radiation to the pipe as heat, thereby providing an ambient temperature in the pipe above the freezing point of water.
