The present invention provides methods for the diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of HCV-related disease. The method takes advantage of a novel reactive mechanism of the murine monoclonal antibody (mAb) 1F7 against human antibodies specific for different proteins of the Hepatitis C virus (HCV) and Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). 1F7 recognizes antibodies against HCV core protein in a majority of HCV-infected individuals and antibodies against HCV non-structural proteins 3 (NS3) and NS4 in some HCV-infected individuals. 1F7 also recognizes antibodies against the putative principle neutralizing determinant (hypervariable and conserved region 1 of the HCV E2 protein) of HCV. The antibody can be used in various methods to detect HCV related disease and formulated with physiologically acceptable carriers in various compositions to treat HCV infection.
L'invention concerne des procédés de diagnostic, de pronostic et de traitement de maladies liées au virus de l'hépatite C. Ce procédé tire profit d'un nouveau mécanisme réactif de l'anticorps monoclonal murin (mAB) 1F7 contre des anticorps humains spécifiques pour différentes protéines du virus de l'hépatite C (HCV) et du virus de l'immunodéficience humaine (VIH). 1F7 reconnaît des anticorps contre la protéine de noyau du virus de l'hépatite C dans la plupart des individus infectés par ce virus et des anticorps contre des protéines non structurelles du virus de l'hépatite C 3 (NS3) et NS4 dans certains individus infectés par le virus de l'hépatite C. 1F7 reconnaît aussi des anticorps contre le principe présumé qui neutralisent le déterminant (hypervariable des régions conservées 1 de la protéine du virus de l'hépatite C E2) du virus de l'hépatite C. L'anticorps peut être utilisé dans divers procédés de détection de maladies liées au virus de l'hépatite C et préparé à partir de supports acceptables sur le plan physiologique dans diverses compositions afin de traiter l'infection de l'hépatite C.
