Antibody antagonists of human interleukin-13 receptor alpha 1 which bind to hIL-13R.alpha.l through domain 3 of the extracellular region of the receptor and inhibit IL-13 receptor-mediated signaling by IL-13 are disclosed herein. These antibodies have uses inter alia in the treatment or prevention of IL-13-related disorders and diseases. The present invention also discloses nucleic acid encoding said antibody molecules, vectors, host cells, and compositions comprising the antibody molecules. Methods of using the antibody molecules for inhibiting or antagonizing hIL-13R.alpha.l- mediated activities are also disclosed.

L'invention concerne des anticorps antagonistes dirigés contre le récepteur alpha 1 humain de l'interleukine-13 qui se lient à hIL-13R.alpha.1 par l'intermédiaire du domaine 3 de la région extracellulaire dudit récepteur et inhibent la signalisation de l'IL-13 dont la médiation est assurée par le récepteur de l'IL-13. Ces anticorps peuvent, entre autres, être utilisés pour traiter ou prévenir des troubles et des maladies liés à l'IL-13. La présente invention concerne également un acide nucléique codant ces molécules d'anticorps, des vecteurs et des cellules hôtes, ainsi que des compositions comportant lesdits molécules d'anticorps. Cette invention se rapporte en outre à des procédés d'utilisation des molécules d'anticorps pour inhiber ou exercer une action contre les activités dont la médiation est assurée par hIL-13R.alpha.1.
