The invention is directed to a trocar seal adapted to form a seal around a surgical instrument, the trocar seal comprising a housing having an axis extending between a proximal end and a distal end and forming a working channel sized and configured to receive the surgical instrument; an elastomeric septum seal having a proximal face and a distal face, the septum seal being disposed in the housing and extending transverse to the axis of the housing across the working channel; portions of the septum seal defining a hole having a diameter less than or equal to the diameter of the surgical instrument so that during insertion of the instrument along the working channel the septum seal forms a seal with the instrument; and at least one structure formed integrally with or proximate to the septum seal to prevent inversion of the septum seal upon withdrawal of the surgical instrument. The septum seal or the housing may further comprise a sidewall to include the structure extending from the sidewall to the distal face of the seal to tether the seal distally. The structure may be integrally formed with the proximal face of the septum seal to reinforce the seal, or the structure may be integrally formed with the distal face of the septum seal to tether the seal distally. The structure may be an annular reinforcement or rib, and is formed so as to allow side-to-side movement or floatation of the seal. The trocar seal may further comprise a plurality of radially extending ribs formed on the proximal or distal face of the septum seal to reinforce the seal. The trocar seal may further comprise a tensile element formed on the distal face of the septum seal.
L'invention concerne un joint de trocart conçu pour former un joint autour d'un instrument chirurgical. Ledit joint de trocart comprend un logement pourvu d'un axe s'étendant entre une extrémité proximale et une extrémité distale et formant un canal opérateur dimensionné et élaboré pour recevoir l'instrument chirurgical et un joint de septum élastomère qui présente des faces proximale et distale, qui est disposé dans le logement et qui s'étend transversalement à l'axe du logement de part le canal opérateur. Des parties du joint de septum forment un trou possédant un diamètre inférieur ou égal à celui de l'instrument chirurgical, de manière que pendant l'insertion de l'instrument le long du canal opérateur, le joint du septum forme un joint avec l'instrument. Ledit joint de trocart comporte également au moins une structure formée intégralement avec le joint de septum ou à proximité dudit joint afin d'éviter l'inversion du joint de septum, lors du retrait de l'instrument chirurgical. Ledit joint de septum ou le logement peut comprendre une paroi latérale de manière à englober la structure s'étendant de la paroi latérale jusqu'à la face distale du joint en vue de relier le joint distalement. Ladite structure peut être formée en une seule pièce avec la face proximale du joint de septum afin de renforcer le joint ou la structure peut être formée en une seule pièce avec la face distale du joint de septum pour relier le joint distalement. Cette structure peut constituer une nervure ou un renforcement annulaire et elle est formée de manière à permettre le déplacement du joint d'un côté à l'autre ou la flottaison du joint. Ce joint de trocart peut aussi comporter une pluralité de nervures s'étendant radialement formées sur la face proximale ou distale du joint du septum de façon à renforcer le joint. Ledit joint de trocart peut également englober un élément de traction formé sur la face distale du joint de septum.
