An arrangement for use in preventing a tractor trailer from jackknifing. The present invention, in its broadest context, includes a pair of pneumatic or hydraulic cylinders which are positioned within the forward portion of the trailer. When a dangerous situation is encountered by the operator of the tractor trailer, the cylinders are actuated. Actuation of the cylinders results in a rod extending from each of the cylinders. These rods, when actuated, extend through a trailer plate and into apertures formed within the fifth wheel of the tractor. In this way the tractor trailer is prevented from jackknifing.
