The invention is an electronic device that prevents engine knocking in aftermarket turbocharged vehicles. The device intercepts the crankshaft position/speed signal from a sensor typically mounted near the engine's crankshaft and sends a delayed version to the ECU, making the ECU believe that the crankshaft has not rotated as far as it really has. The position/speed signal is digitally processed in a unique way that allows a low-cost microcontroller to be used to perform the signal retardation. The invention retards the timing by variable amounts in response to the turbocharger boost pressure. The retarded timing makes the engine run slightly cooler and prevents auto-ignition of the fuel - known as knocking - in the combustion chambers.
