The invention controls vehicle lift by automatically applying a downward force to the front of a vehicle whenever the front of the vehicle is a predetermined distance off the ground or water. The height of the front of the vehicle or the angle of the vehicle is monitored. This can be accomplished by mounting a distance or tilt measuring device, such as a gyroscopic device, an infrared transceiver, or any other suitable device known in the art, to the vehicle. When the height of the front of the vehicle from the ground or water, or the tilt angle of the vehicle, approaches an undesired level, the sensor device triggers a device that applies a downward force to the front of the vehicle. By automatically forcing the vehicle's front end in a downwardly direction whenever unwanted lift is imminent, the present invention eliminates the need to manually control lift, thereby allowing inexperienced drivers to operate the vehicle more easily and safely, and experienced drivers to operate it more efficiently.
