The present invention concerns novel pharmaceutical compositions for the treatment of cancer, either by inhibition of the tumor metastatic tendency or alternatively by inhibiting formation of new blood vessels (angiogenesis) and thus depriving the tumor from its blood source. The active compound in the pharmaceutical compositions of the invention is a fragment of the Thrombin B- chain comprising the sequence Arg-Gly-Asp in an exposed orientation, or modified thrombin in which the naturally cryptic Arg-Gly-Asp sequence has been modified so that it is in an exposed orientation.

Nouvelles compositions pharmaceutiques pour le traitement du cancer, soit par inhibition de la tendance métastatique des tumeurs, soit par inhibition de la formation de nouveaux vaisseaux sanguins (angiogenèse) dans le but de priver la tumeur de sa source de sang. Ces compositions pharmaceutiques comportent, à titre de composé actif, un fragment de la chaîne B de la thrombine, comportant la séquence Arg-Gly-Asp dans une orientation d'exposition, ou une thrombine modifiée dans laquelle la séquence Arg-Gly-Asp naturellement cryptique est modifiée de sorte qu'elle se trouve dans une orientation d'exposition.
