The invention relates to a method for inhibiting the growth of microorganisms in a latex, especially a sterically stabilised or cationic stabilised latex and to a composition for use in the method comprising a polymeric biguanide and an isothiazolinone of Formula (I) wherein: R is H, alkyl, cycloalkyl or aralkyl; and Y and Z each independently are H, halogen or C1-4-alkyl or Y and Z together with the carbon atoms to which they are attached form an optionally substituted 5 or 6 membered ring.

L'invention concerne un procédé d'inhibition de la croissance de micro-organismes dans un latex, notamment un latex stabilisé stériquement ou stabilisé cationique ainsi qu'une composition destinée à être utilisée dans le procédé et comprenant un biguanide polymère et une isothiazolinone de la formule (I), dans laquelle R représente H, alkyle, cycloalkyle ou aralkyle; et Y ainsi que Z représentent chacun indépendamment H, halogène ou un alkyle C1-4, ou Y et Z avec les atomes de carbone auxquels ils sont fixés forment un cycle de 5 ou 6 éléments facultativement substitués.
