ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An anti-migration agent for dyeing polyester or cellulosic fibers is provided herein. The agent comprises a water-soluble, neutral polymer salt of a polymer anion and at least one cation. The polymer anion is a copolymer or a partially esterified matter thereof. The copolymer consists of at least one monomer selected from the group consisting of C4 to C7 conjugated diene and isobutylene and at least one member selected from the group consisting of maleic acid, maleic anhydride and derivatives thereof, and the cation is selected from the group consisting of Na+, K+, Li+ and ammonium ions represented by the general formula R1R2R3R4N+ wherein R1, R2, R3 and R4 are selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, C1 to C6 alkyl, cycloalkyl and phenyl. Not only can the migration of a dye applied to a cloth be substantially prevented by the anti-migration agent of aspects of this invention, thereby substantially preventing the occurrence of uneven dyeing, but the anti-migration agent can be easily removed after use, and the COD and BOD in the waste water is also lowered.
