A system (100) to provide foot protection against anti-personnel land mines is designed for use by mine clearance personnel and includes a raised frame having a central foot support location thereon which ensures a spacing of the wearer's foot above the ground surface of from 10 to 30 cm. The ground-engaging parts (102, 103) of the frame are spaced forwardly and rearwardly of the foot location (105) and the frame includes on its underside blast protection material (128, 130), the combined results of these measures being to greatly attenuate the blast and fragmentation effects of an exploding mine on the foot of the user. Moreover, the underside of the structure, including legs (102, 103), is aerodynamically shaped to ~ deflect the blast wave loading and fragments generated by the mine detonation.
On décrit un système (100) de protection du pied contre les mines antipersonnelles terrestres. Ce système est conçu à l'usage des personnels de déminage et comprend un cadre surélevé muni d'un emplacement central de support du pied qui ménage un espace de 10 à 30 cm entre le pied du porteur et la surface du sol. Les parties (102, 103) du cadre qui vont au contact du sol sont projetées de manière espacée vers l'avant et vers l'arrière de l'emplacement du pied (108). Le cadre est muni sur sa face inférieure d'un matériau anti-souffle (128, 130) et l'ensemble de ces mesures a pour résultat d'atténuer considérablement l'effet que le souffle et la fragmentation d'une mine explosant peut avoir sur le pied du porteur. De plus, la face inférieure de la structure, y compris les pattes (102, 103), présente une forme aérodynamique servant à dévier la force et les fragments de l'onde de souffle générés par la détonation d'une mine.
