ANTI-RATCHET LATCHING ARRANGEMENT FOR SEAT SLIDE DEVICE ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A latching arrangement for a seat slide device of the type used in manually-operable vehicle seat slide mechanisms is disclosed. The latching arrangement includes a segmented tooth form having a first locking portion for facilitating initial receipt within a locking aperture, a second locking portion for causing complete interdigitated engagement therebetween, and a camming portion providing a ramped transition between the first and second locking portions. The first locking portion defines an anti-ratchet engagement position and the second locking portion defines an anti-chucking engagement position.
