ABSTRACT A rack and pinion assembly includes a rack bar and a transmission bar slidable in a housing. A bearing straddles the transmission bar. A portion of the bearing carries a flat face which imposes on and is substantially in face-to-face contact with a second flat face on the transmission bar. The flat faces cooperate to resist turning movement of the trans- mission bar and rack bar in the housing.
