The mechanism (1) includes a plurality of curved stop surfaces (35) uniformly disposed around the side surface of the insert (3), a portion of which is obliquely oriented with respect to the side surface of the insert, and at least one anti-rotation surface (36) in the pocket (5) of the tool body (7) having a shape substantially complementary to that of the stop surfaces (35) for forming an interference joint between the pocket (5) and the insert (3). Both the stop surfaces (35) and the anti-rotation surface (36) are substantially defined by partial radius curves.
