ABSTRACT An anti-rotation device for a hermetic scroll type compressor, including a ring member with an opening having two parallel sides and one pair of axially aligned tabs. An interfitting orbiting scroll hub having two opposing flats slides within the oldham ring opening with the orbiting hub flats sliding against and rectilinearly with parallel sides of the opening. Ring member tabs slide in a pair of grooves on the compressor frame perpendicular to the direction of sliding of the orbiting scroll hub.
