ABSTRACT An anti-slip device for shoe wear, walking sticks and the like, comprises a metal gripping ring fitted on a rubber body connected to a heel, sole or ferrule, by resilient connecting parts adjacent a groove so that in normal use without slipping the gripping ring remains parallel to the ground but when slipping commences the rubber body bends to cause the lower edge or the gripping ring to drive into the ground.
