A manually operated device is provided for locking automatic or standard gear shifts to a fixed position on the floor in any specified gear. The device has a socket bolted to the floor of a vehicle, a bracket fixed securely to a gear shift stick and an intermediate member, slidable in the socket and hinged to the bracket and lockable in a position where the gear shift is in neutral.
