A process is disclosed for protecting watercraft, in particular sailing and motor-driven yachts, against theft in an area delimited in space, for example a harbour. A stationary transmitting/receiving unit and an on-board transmitting/receiving unit are used for that purpose. When interrogated by the stationary transmitting/receiving unit, the on-board transmitting/receiving unit emits a watercraft characteristic identification signal. In order to obtain an effective process for protecting watercraft against illicit use, the identification signal contains a basic key that identifies the watercraft and the identification signals of all watercraft in the harbour are stored in a central computer. To legitimise use of the watercraft, a legitimisation key is input into the central computer before departure. The central computer ascertains whether the use of the watercraft is legitimate based on the interrogation carried out by the stationary transmitting/receiving unit and if required triggers an alarm and information program.
Un procédé permet de protéger contre le vol des bateaux, notamment des yachts à voile et à moteur mouillés dans une zone délimitée dans l'espace, par exemple un port. On utilise à cet effet une unité fixe d'émission/réception et une unité d'émission/réception située sur le bateau. L'unité d'émission/réception située sur le bateau émet un signal d'identification propre au bateau lorsqu'elle est interrogée par l'unité fixe d'émission/réception. Afin d'obtenir un procédé efficace de protection de bateaux contre des utilisations illicites, le signal d'identification contient une caractéristique de base d'identification du bateau et les signaux d'identification de tous les bateaux mouillés dans le port sont enregistrés dans un ordinateur central. Afin de légitimer l'utilisation d'un bateau, on fournit avant le départ un code de légitimation à l'ordinateur central. L'ordinateur central vérifie si l'utilisation du bateau est légitime sur la base de l'interrogation effectuée par l'unité fixe d'émission/réception et déclenche le cas échéant un programme d'alarme et d'information.
