ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This disclosure describes three new antibiotics designated BM782.alpha.1, BM78.alpha.2, and BM782.alpha.1a which are produced in a microbiological fermentation under controlled conditions using a new genus and species of the Actinomycotalos Saccharothrix Australionso, gen. and sp. nov., or mutants thereof. These new antibacterial agents are active against Mycobacterium tuberculosis as well as both gram-positive and gram- negative microorganisms and thus are useful for inhibiting the growth of such bacteria and bacilli wherever they may be found.
