ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Antibiotic albicidin, a non-peptide anti- biotic, is produced by culturing chlorosis-inducing strains of Xanthomonas albilineans isolated from diseased sugarcane, and mutants thereof. The antibiotic is isolated from the culture medium by adsorption on resin and is purified by gel filtration and HPLC.
