ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention relates to novel compounds of formula (II-a) Image (II-a) wherein R11 represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group and R33 represents a lower alkyl group or a substituted or unsubstituted aralkyl group having form 7 to 20 carbon atoms. The novel compounds are useful intermediates in the preparation of certain novel antibiotic .beta.-lactam compounds.
