This invention discloses extracts including a biologically active compound or combination of compounds derived from microorganisms isolated from mucous- producing organisms that respire at least partially through their skin. Rod- shaped bacteria isolated from the skin of salamanders and frogs are found to produce compound(s) that have antiviral, antitumor, antibacterial and antifungal properties. These compounds have an inhibitory effect on opportunistic human pathogens, including Candida sp., Microsporum sp., Staphylococcus sp., Pseudomonas sp., Escherichia sp.,and Enterococcus sp., as well as on HIV strains and tumor cell lines.

La présente invention concerne des extraits comprenant un composé ou une combinaison de composés biolgiquement actif(s) dérivés de micro-organismes isolés à partir d'organismes produisant du mucus qui respirent au moins partiellement par la peau. On a observée que des bactéries de forme allongée isolées à partir de la peau de salamandres et de grenouilles produisent un/des composé(s) présentant des propriétés antivirales, antitumorales, antibactériennes et antifongiques. Ce(s) composé(s) présente(nt) un effet inhibiteur sur des agents pathogènes opportunistes humains, comprenant le Candida sp., le Microsporum sp., le Staphylococcus sp., le Pseudomonas sp., l'Escherichia sp., et l'Enterococcus sp., ainsi que sur les souches de VIH et les lignées cellulaires tumorales.
