Antibodies are disclosed that protect against candidiasis, particularly antibodies of the IgG class and antibodies that specifically bind to a carbohydrate antigen of the cell wall of a yeast from the Candida genus. Also disclosed are pharmaceutical compositions and therapeutic methods useful in the treatment of candidiasis as well as diagnostic methods.
