ABSTRACT A monoclonal antibody and protein, the antibody being specific for N. gonorrhoeae and capable of binding to the protein obtainable from N. gonorrhoea, the protein having a molecular weight of about 14 kD as determined by SDS-PAGE, and being capable of binding to antibody secreted by hybridoma NG 28 (ECACC 89 07 19 01); the monoclonal antibody and the protein are useful in the detection of Neisseria gonorrhoeae and thus in diagnosis of clinical gonorrhoea.
