The present invention pertains to novel antibodies directed to the C-terminal part of the PrPSc isoform of prions. In particular, the present invention pertains to the use of such antibodies in the diagnosis of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) and the new variant form of Creutzfeld Jacobs Disease (vCJD). In addition, the present invention relates to the peptide recognized by the antibodies and its use in the immunization and/or treatment of BSE, CJD, vCJD and other TSE related diseases.
La présente invention porte sur de nouveaux anticorps dirigés sur la partie d'extrémité C-terminale de l'isoforme PrP?Sc¿ des prions. La présente invention porte notamment sur l'utilisation de ces anticorps dans le diagnostic de l'encéphalopathie bovine spongiforme (maladie de la vache folle) et de la nouvelle forme de variant de la maladie de Creutzfeld-Jacob. Cette invention porte en outre sur le peptide reconnu par les anticorps et sur son utilisation dans l'immunisation et/ou le traitement de l'encéphalopathie bovine spongiforme, la maladie de Creutzfeld-Jacob, la nouvelle forme de variant de la maladie de Creutzfeld-Jacob et autres maladies apparentées à l'encéphalopathie spongiforme transmissible.
