The present invention provides novel antibodies specifically bind to an epitope on CD43 and CEA expressed on nonhematopoietic cancer cells, but do not specifically bind to a CD43 expressed by a leukocyte or by a Jurkat cell, and is capable of inducing apoptosis of the nonhematopoietic cancer cell after binding to the epitope on cell surface of the nonhematopoietic cancer cell in the absence of cytotoxin conjugation and immune effector function, wherein the epitope comprises a carbohydrate structure and the binding of the antibody to the epitope is inhibited by a carbohydrate comprising a Leastructure, a Lea-lactose structure, a LNDFH II structure, or a LNT structure. In addition, the present invention also provides use of the antibodies described herein for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.
La présente invention concerne de nouveaux anticorps qui se lient spécifiquement à un épitope du CD43 et de l'ACE exprimé sur des cellules cancéreuses non hématopoïétiques mais qui ne se lient pas spécifiquement à un CD43 exprimé par un leucocyte ou par une cellule de Jurkat et qui sont capables d'induire l'apoptose de la cellule cancéreuse non hématopoïétique après s'être liés à l'épitope sur la surface de la cellule cancéreuse non hématopoïétique en l'absence de conjugaison à une cytotoxine et en l'absence de fonction effectrice immunitaire. Cet épitope comprend une structure hydrate de carbone et la liaison de l'anticorps à l'épitope est inhibée par un hydrate de carbone comprenant une structure Lea, une structure LeMactose, une structure LNDFH II ou une structure LNT. La présente invention concerne en outre l'utilisation des anticorps décrits ici à des fins diagnostiques et thérapeutiques.
