Antibodies and agents which can bind to the propeptide of the Int1p protein of yeast microorganisms such as Candida albicans are provided which can be useful in methods for treating or preventing infections arising from such microorganisms. Microorganisms expressing the Int1p protein, such as C. albicans and S. cerevisiae, have shown an ability to immunomodulate host cells which allows infections of these microorganisms enhances to thrive and become virulent. In accordance with the present invention, peptide regions involved in the activation of the Int1p protein are isolated and targeted so as to provide a method of disrupting said activation and allow for treatment or prevention of infection by microorganisms expressing the int1p protein. In one preferred embodiment of the invention, an antibody or agent which can bind to the propeptide of the Int1P protein from C. albicans is utilized in methods to prevent or treat infections caused by C. albicans or other microorganisms expressing the Int1p protein.
L'invention porte sur des anticorps et agents pouvant se fixer au propeptide de la protéine Int1p de micro-organismes de levures tels que le Candida albicans et utilisables dans des méthodes de traitement ou de prévention d'infections dues auxdits micro-organismes. En effet des micro-organismes exprimant la protéine Int1p tels que le C. albicans ou le S. cerevisiae, ont montré leur capacité d'immunomodulation de cellules hôtes, ce qui provoque la croissance des infections dues à la prolifération de ces micro-organismes, qui deviennent virulentes. Selon l'invention, les régions peptidiques intervenant dans l'activation de la protéine Int1p sont isolées et ciblées de manière à fournir une méthode d'interruption ladite activation utilisable pour le traitement ou la prévention d'infections par des micro-organismes exprimant la protéine int1p. Dans l'exécution préférée, on utilise un anticorps ou un agent pouvant se fixer au propeptide de la protéine Int1P du C. albicans dans des méthodes de prévention ou traitement des infections dues au C. albicans ou à d'autres micro-organismes exprimant la protéine Int1p.
