Abstract of the Disclosure 2-[3-[4-(3-Halophenyl)-1-piperazinyl]propyl]-5-(1-hydroxy- ethyl)-2,4-dihydro-4-phenoxyalkyl-3H-1,2,4-triazol-3-ones and closely related compounds are psychotropic agents having promise as antidepressants by virtue of their receptor site binding affinity profiles and animal pharm- acology. The specification discloses compounds of Formula I and the acid addition salts of these substances. Image (I) In the foregoing structural formula the symbol R designates hydrogen, lower (C1-C4) alkyl, lower acyl, phenyl-lower-alkyl (such as benzyl), and phenyl- lower-acyl (such as phenacyl); Y is halogen, preferably chloro, or trifluoro- methyl; Z is hydrogen or Image , with R1 being hydrogen, halogen, C1-4 alkoxy, or trifluoromethyl; and n is 2-4.
