ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention concerns a pharmaceutical composition useful for treating depression in humans, comprising an effective amount of 5-methoxypsoralen, and optionally, a suitable carrier or diluent, e.g., carboxymethylcellulose, and optionally, a dispersing agent, e.g., polysorbate 80. Also disclosed is a method for treating depression, e.g., endogenous or clinical depression, comprising administering to humans in need of such treatment an effective amount of 5-methoxyp- soralen, optionally, a pharmaceutically suitable carrier or diluent, and optionally, a dispersing agent.
