A composite marine structure com- prises a marine substrate (34) having ad- hered to at least a portion of its surface a layer of a water-permeable composite article (14) comprising a non-woven fi- brous web (16) having entrapped therein active particulate (18) to provide said ma- rine substrate with protection against at least one of fouling and corrosion. Under- water surfaces such as ship bulls, buoys, docks, intake pipes, etc., can be protected against marine growth and corrosion by adhering thereto the composite sheet arti- cle of the invention.
