2107098 9218613 PCTABS00017 A new strain of Pseudomonas fluorescens which displays antifungal activity on a wide spectrum of disease fungi has been isolated. Screening, testing and field trial results are provided. The antifungal agent is particularly active against "damping-off" disease caused by fungi of such genera as Rhizoctonia, Pythium, and Fusarium. Methods of using such micro-organisms and fungicidal compositions containing same to protect crop plants from fungal infection are described. The antifungal agent can be used as an agricultural fungicide, particularly as a seed coating.
