A nail lacquer effective for the treatment or prevention of fungal infections, such as, onychomycosis, includes fungicidally effective amount of ciclopirox, econazole, or other antifungal agent in a clear, stable, film-forming lacquer vehicle which includes a waterinsoluble film-forming polymer; 2-n-nonyl-1,3-dioxolane or similar penetration enhancer; and volatile solvent. A plasticizer for the film-forming polymer which is also compatible with the other components may be included although the preferred penetration enhancers may also function as plasticizer. The composition, when applied to the nails provides a hard, clear, water-resistant film containing the antifungal agent. The film is resistant to multiple washings and is effective in the treatment of onychomycosis.

La présente invention concerne un vernis à ongles efficace pour traiter ou prévenir les infections mycosiques, notamment la onychomycose, renfermant une dose de cliclopiroxolamine efficace sur le plan fongicide, de l'éconazole ou un autre agent antifongique véhiculés par un vernis transparent, stable et filmogène, comprenant un polymère filmogène non hydrosoluble, 2-n-nonyl-1,3-dioxalanne ou un activateur de pénétration analogue, et enfin, un solvant volatil. Par ailleurs, ce vernis peut renfermer un plastifiant pour le polymère filmogène, également compatible avec les autres composants, même si on peut aussi utiliser les activateurs de pénétration préférés comme plastifiants. Lorsque cette composition est appliquée sur les ongles, elle les recouvre d'un film dur, transparent et résistant à l'eau, contenant l'agent antifongique. Par ailleurs, ce film résiste à de multiples lavages et est efficace pour le traitement de l'onychomycose.
