The present invention provides antifungal and antibacterial peptides, especially antifungal peptides obtained from insect species, particularly lepidopterans. The present invention also provides methods of using these antifungal peptides to treat or prevent fungal growth for a variety of purposes such as; protecting plants from fungal infections, treating fungal infections of animals, especially humans, and prevention of food spoilage. In particular, the invention provides transgenic plants that produce an antifungal peptide, said plants having increased resistance to fungal infections/growth.
La présente invention se rapporte à des peptides antifongiques et antibactériens, notamment des peptides antifongiques obtenus à partir d'espèces d'insectes, notamment des lépidoptères. La présente invention se rapporte également à des procédés d'utilisation de ces peptides antifongiques pour traiter ou prévenir une croissance fongique à diverses fins, par exemple pour protéger des plantes d'infections fongiques, traiter des infections fongiques d'animaux, notamment d'humains, et éviter l'altération des aliments. En particulier, l'invention se rapporte à des plantes transgéniques qui produisent un peptide antifongique, lesdites plantes possédant une résistance accrue à des infections fongiques ou à une croissance fongique.
