RAN 4105/151 Abstract The present invention relates to a method for producing a protein corresponding to an antibody capable of binding to an antigen and to a protein prepared by this method, which protein is composed of predetermined framework regions of the heavy chain and light chain of an antibody, said predetermined regions being linked to undetermined regions which correspond in length to hypervariable regions of said antibody and which undetermined regions contain a sequence of amino acids capable of binding to said antigen. The present invention provides also various tools used in the said method. Furthermore, the present invention provides an antigen screening kit comprising a plurality of synthetic genes which may be used for screening antigens for binding to the proteins encoded by said synthetic genes.
