ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A polychlorinated biphenyl hapten is covalently bonded to a macromolecule carrier through a diazo containing linking group. In forming the conjugate, a PCB hapten is nitrated, aminated, diazotized and finally coupled with the macromolecule carrier. The antigen may be used to raise antibodies specific to the hapten and binding with the hapten.
