Two proteins and their use as substrates for vaccines intended to initiate an immune response in a mammalian subject against infection with species of Plasmodium for use in the diagnosis of Plasmodium infection and for their use in the development of antimalarial drugs. This invention further relates to immunological reagents, specifically antibodies directed against these Plasmodium proteins.
