ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Substituted phenylacetic acids of the general formula (I): Image (I) wherein R1 represents a hydrogen atom, a straight or branched alkyl or alkoxy radical having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, or a straight or branched alkenyl or alkenyloxy radical having 2 to 6 carbon atoms, R2 represents a hydrogen or halogen atom or an alkyl radical having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and X represents a hydroxyl group, an alkoxy groups having 1 to 4 carbon atoms or an -O(CH2)nN(R')2 group in which n is an integer from 2 to 4 and R' is an alkyl radical having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and the salts thereof with pharmaceutically acceptable inorganic or organic bases, exhibit an outstanding antinflammatory activity while having a very low toxicity and not showing ulcerogenic activity.
