Dinitroaniline compounds useful for the treatment of diseases caused by parasitic protozoa in subjects in need of such treatment. The compounds are particularly useful in the treatement of leishmaniasis. The compounds are preferably less cytotoxic to normal cells than oryzalin. Also provided are methods of treating subjects having diseases caused by parasitic protozoa, preferably humans. The method comprising administering a therapeutically effective amount of a dinitroaniline compound of the present invention to a subject in need of such treatment.
L'invention concerne des composés de dinitroaniline utilisés dans le traitement de maladies causées par des protozoaires parasites chez des sujets ayant besoin d'un tel traitement. Ces composés sont utilisés, en particulier, dans le traitement de la leishmaniose. Les composés sont, de préférence, moins cytotoxiques pour les cellules normales que l'oryzaline. L'invention concerne également des méthodes de traitement de sujets atteints de maladies causées par des protozoaires parasites, de préférence humains. La méthode consiste à administrer une quantité thérapeutiquement efficace d'un composé de dinitroaniline de la présente invention chez un sujet ayant besoin d'un tel traitement.
