The present disclosure is directed to method of preparing an antimicrobial agent comprising heating a dialdehyde polysaccharide. The method comprises subjecting a dialdehyde polysaccharide, such as a dialdehyde starch or a dialdehyde cellulose, to heating and/or sonication for a period of time. Also provided herein is an antimicrobial composition comprising the prepared dialdehyde polysaccharide. The antimicrobial composition is effective at killing microbial agents such as viruses and bacteria within a short period of time.

La présente invention concerne un procédé de préparation d'un agent antimicrobien comprenant le chauffage d'un polysaccharide dialdéhydique. Ce procédé comprend le chauffage et/ou la sonication pendant une certaine durée d'un polysaccharide dialdéhydique, tel qu'un amidon dialdéhydique ou une cellulose dialdéhydique. L'invention concerne également une composition antimicrobienne comprenant le polysaccharide dialdéhydique ainsi préparé. Cette composition antimicrobienne se révèle efficace pour ce qui est de tuer rapidement des agents microbiens tels que virus et bactéries.
