The present invention is directed to an antimicrobial hydrogel-forming absorbent polymer comprising a hydrogel-forming absorbent polymer, and an antimicrobial comprising a 1-hydroxy-2-pyrrolidone derivative represented by formula (I) wherein R1 represents an alkyl group having 1-17 carbon atoms, alkenyl group having 2-17 carbon atoms, cycloalkyl group having 5-8 carbon atoms, bicycloalkyl group having 7-9 carbon atoms, cycloalkyl-alkyl group wherein the alkyl group has 1-4 carbon atoms and the cycloalkyl group may be substituted with an alkyl group having 1-4 carbon atoms, aryl group, aralkyl group with an alkyl group having 1-4 carbon atoms, aryl-alkenyl group with the alkenyl group having 2-4 carbon atoms, aryloxyalkyl or arylmercaptoalkyl group with the alkyl group having 1-4 carbon atoms, benzhydryl group, phenylsulfonylalkyl group with the alkyl group having 1-4 carbon atoms, furylalkenyl group with the furyl or alkenyl group having 2-4 carbon atoms, wherein the above-mentioned aryl residual group may be substituted with an alkyl group having 1-4 carbon atoms, alkoxy group having 1-4 carbon atoms, nitro group, cyano group, or a halogen atom; R2 represents a hydrogen atom, alkyl group having 1-4 carbon atoms, alkenyl group having 2-4 carbon atoms, halogen atom, phenyl group, or benzyl group; and X+ represents an organic base, alkali metal ion, ammonium ion, alkaline earth metal ion, or a divalent to tetravalent cationic ion. The present invention further relates to a process for making such an antimicrobial hydrogel-forming absorbent polymer. The present invention further relates to a disposable absorbent article comprising an antimicrobial hydrogel-forming absorbent polymer.
Polymère absorbant formant un hydrogel et antimicrobien, qui comprend un polymère absorbant formant un hydrogel et un antimicrobien comportant un dérivé 1-hydroxy-2-pyrrolidone de formule (I), dans laquelle R¿1? représente un groupe alkyle ayant 1 à 17 atomes de carbone, un groupe alcényle ayant 2 à 17 atomes de carbone, un groupe cycloalkyle ayant 5 à 8 atomes de carbone, un groupe bicycloalkyle ayant 7 à 9 atomes de carbone, un groupe cycloalkyle-alkyle dans lequel le groupe alkyle possède 1 à 4 atomes de carbone et le groupe cycloalkyle peut être substitué par un groupe alkyle ayant 1 à 4 atomes de carbone, un groupe aryle, un groupe aralkyle possédant un groupe alkyle ayant 1 à 4 atomes de carbone, un groupe aryl-alcényle dont le groupe alcényle possède 2 à 4 atomes de carbone, un groupe aryloxyalkyle ou arylmercaptoalkyle dont le groupe alkyle possède 1 à 4 atomes de carbone, un groupe benzhydryle, un groupe phénylsulfonylalkyle dont le groupe alkyle possède 1 à 4 atomes de carbone, un groupe furylalcényle dont le groupe furyle ou alcényle possède 2 à 4 atomes de carbone, le groupe résiduel aryle susmentionné pouvant être substitué par un groupe alkyle ayant 1 à 4 atomes de carbone, un groupe alcoxy ayant 1 à 4 atomes de carbone, un groupe nitro, un groupe cyano, ou un atome d'halogène, R¿2? représente un atome d'hydrogène, un groupe alkyle ayant 1 à 4 atomes de carbone, un groupe alcényle ayant 2 à 4 atomes de carbone, un atome d'halogène, un groupe phényle, ou un groupe benzyle, et X?+¿ représente une base organique, un ion de métal alcalin, un ion d'ammonium, un ion de métal alcalino-terreux ou un ion cationique divalent à tétravalent. La présente invention concerne en outre un procédé de préparation d'un polymère absorbant formant un gel et antimicrobien, ainsi qu'un article absorbant jetable contenant ledit polymère.
