An enclosure (102) configured to receive and secure a medical waste container (14). The enclosure comprises a main body (105) and a cover (104). The cover is connected to the main body and configured to be moved between an opened position and a closed position. An antimicrobial agent is provided along the inside and outside surfaces of the main body and along the inside and outside surfaces of the cover to inhibit growth of bacteria and the like.
