Novel antimicrobial peptides from bovine and murine neutrophils are provided. The peptides, designated bovine granulocyte peptide A (BGP-A) and murine granulocyte peptide A (MGP-A) were purified to homogeneity from peripheral blood granulocytes. The amino acid and nucleotide sequence of BGP-A and MGP-A are also provided. A synthetic version of BGP-A and MGP-A is also provided. The purified BGP-A peptide is shown to have antimicrobial activity indistinguishable from that of natural BGP-A. Synthetic carboxamidated analogs of BGP-A (BGP-A-amide) and MGP-A (MGP-A-amide) are also provided.
On décrit des nouveaux peptides antimicrobiens obtenus à partir de polynucléaires neutrophiles bovins et murins. Ces peptides, dénommés peptide A de granulocyte bovin (BGP-A) et peptide A de granulocyte murin (MGP-A), ont été purifiés, afin d'obtenir leur homogénéité, à partir de granulocytes de sang périphérique. On décrit également la séquence d'acides aminés et de nucléotides de GBP-A et de MGP-A, ainsi qu'une version de synthèse de ces deux peptides. Le peptide purifié BGP-A s'avère posséder une activité antimicrobienne que l'on ne peut distinguer de celle du peptide BGP-A naturel. On décrit encore des analogues de synthèse, carboxamidés, de BGP-A (BGP-A-amide) et de MGP-A (MGP-A-amide).
