Antimicrobial quinolonyl lactam esters comprising a lactam-containing moiety linked, by an ester group, to the 3-carboxy group of a quinolone moiety. These compounds are of the formula: (see fig. I) wherein (1) R3, R4, and R5, together with bonds "a" and "b", form certain lactam-containing moieties similar to those known in the art to have antimicrobial activity; and (2) A, R6, R7, and R8 form any of a variety of quinolone or napthyridine structures similar to those known in the art to have antimicrobial activity.

Divulgation d'esters lactames quinoloniques antimicrobiens comprenant un groupement caractéristique lactame, lié à l'aide d'un groupement ester au groupement 3-carboxy d'une quinolone. Ces composés ont la formule suivante : (voir figure I), dans laquelle 1) R3, R4 et R5, ensemble avec les liaisons « a » et « b », forment certains groupements contenant un lactame similaires à ceux connus pour avoir une activité antimicrobienne; et 2) A, R6, R7 et R8 forment une des diverses sturctures quinoloniques ou naphtyridiniques similaires à celles connues pour avoir une activité antimicrobienne.
