The present invention provides an applicator (10) for applying and distributing a substance onto a target surface. The applicator comprises a substantially planar sheet of compressible, conformable material (20) having opposed first (21) and second (22) surfaces and an interior region (23) between said first and second surfaces. The sheet of material has a thickness between the first and second surfaces which decreases when the sheet of material is subjected to an externally-applied force in a direction substantially normal to the first surface. The applicator further includes at least one discrete reservoir (50) extending inwardly of the first surface (21) into the interior of the sheet of material which is at least partially filled with a substance and at least one discrete aperture (30) formed in the first surface which is in fluid communication with the reservoir (50). Compression of the sheet of material via an externally-applied force substantially normal to said first surface expresses product from the aperture (30) and translational motion of the first surface relative to a target surface applies and distributes said product onto the target surface. In a preferred embodiment, a plurality of apertures (30) are associated with corresponding reservoirs (50) forming a delivery zone (31) near one end of a hand-held applicator, and the sheet material is preferably resilient both in compression and in bending to conform to irregular target surfaces. A wide variety of substances are contemplated, including particularly antiperspirant/deodorant products. Other embodiments include a single reservoir feeding a plurality of apertures.
L'invention concerne un applicateur servant à appliquer et à répartir une substance sur une surface ciblée. Cet applicateur comprend une feuille sensiblement plane de matériau adaptable et compressible possédant une première et une deuxième surfaces opposées et une zone intérieure entre lesdites première et deuxième surfaces. Cette feuille de matériau présente une épaisseur entre la première et la deuxième surfaces qui décroît quand on soumet la feuille à une force appliquée de l'extérieur dans un sens pratiquement perpendiculaire à la première surface. Cet applicateur comporte, de plus, au moins un réservoir discret s'étendant vers l'intérieur de la première surface et vers l'intérieur de la feuille de matériau, qui est rempli, au moins partiellement, par une substance, ainsi qu'au moins une ouverture discrète située dans la première surface en communication fluide avec le réservoir. La compression de la feuille de matériau par l'intermédiaire d'une force appliquée de l'extérieur sensiblement perpendiculairement à ladite première surface exprime le produit depuis l'ouverture et le mouvement de translation de la première surface par rapport à une surface ciblée applique et répartit ledit produit sur la surface ciblée. Dans un mode de réalisation préféré, une pluralité d'ouvertures est associée aux réservoirs correspondants constituant une zone d'application proche d'une extrémité d'un applicateur manuel et le matériau de la feuille est, de préférence, élastique à la fois en compression et en flexion afin de s'adapter à des surfaces ciblées irrégulières. Selon l'invention, on peut utiliser une variété importante de substances, y compris, en particulier, des produits antisudorifiques et déodorants. D'autres modes de réalisation comprennent un réservoir unique alimentant une pluralité d'ouvertures.
